Dr. Amélie Kirchgaessner, Co-Investigator

Dr. Amélie Kirchgaessner works as an Atmospheric Physicist within the Climate Program at the British Antarctic Survey. She is a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society.

For over ten years her research has focussed on polar and boundary layer meteorology, in particular on improving the understanding and representation of climate processes in Polar Regions in mesoscale and large scale models. Topics of her research cover turbulent fluxes over sea ice, the evaluation of regional models, cyclone tracks in the Arctic, climate statistics for the Arctic, the influence of orography on the flow across the Antarctic Peninsula, and as part of ACCACIA the role of clouds and aerosols in the Arctic climate.

Fieldwork involving ground-based, ship-based and aircraft measurements have taken her to the Arctic and the Antarctic on several occasions.
