Prof Rippeth will be one of 12 scientists speaking at an International Arctic Science Committee event in the US at the end of October. He has warned that melting ice in the Arctic could be the cause of extreme weather events in the UK. The aim of the workshop will be to set research priorities to improve predictions of how the disappearance of Arctic ice will affect the rest of the world.
